Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - A total of 115 illegal foreign nationals including three women were nabbed during an Ops Sapu 6P raid in the Petaling Street area.
Putrajaya Immigration Department deputy assistant director (1) Abdul Malik Bujang said Chinatown is known to be a hotspot for foreign nationals.
"Most of the illegal foreigners caught during the raid were either operating businesses or working illegally.
"They will be brought to our headquarters in Putrajaya," he said yesterday.
However, Abdul Malik added, their employers managed to escape.
Putrajaya Immigration deputy assistant director Mohd Izzat Mohd Jamil, who was also present, said that there has been an increase in the number of illegals caught after the implementation of the Comprehensive Legalisation Programme for Illegal Immigrants, although an amnesty period was given for registration.
