38 students, staff at Ngee Ann Polytechnic stung by bees

At least 38 staff and students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic were taken to hospital after being attacked by bees at the school’s sports complex on Wednesday morning.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) dispatched ambulances and two specially-designed Personal Decontamination Vehicles (PDVs) after receiving a call around 8.30am informing them of the incident, reported Channel NewsAsia.

All of those injured have since been discharged.

Ambulances and two personal decontamination vehicles were used to send the injured to the hospital. The vehicle can be used as a mass-casualty decontamination facility, ambulance and a transport vehicle.

Around 16 were sent to Alexandra Hospital while 21 were taken to National University Hospital (NUH).

A pest control company has removed the bee hive and the school said the field was cordoned off and sports activities were either cancelled or postponed.
