MADRID, May 4, 2008 (AFP) - Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, who battled through the pain of a broken ankle to finish fourth in the China Moto Grand Prix at the weekend, could be forced out of this month's French MotoGP, the Spanish press reported on Tuesday.
A scan has revealed that the Spaniard is suffering from a fractured right ankle and a ruptured ligament in his left ankle after his spectacular tumble in practice in China last Friday.
He is due to undergo further tests on Monday to decide if he can compete in Le Mans on May 18, his doctor Xavier Mir told the Spanish press.
Lorenzo is currently second in the world championship standings after four events, seven points behind compatriot Dani Pedrosa.
The 250cc double world champion has stormed into the Moto GP class this year, claiming three poles and podiums in as many races, including a win in Portugal.
