KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Jun (Bernama) -- Canoeist Ahmad Shafie Abdul Jabar
of Johor and track cyclist Ju Pha Som Net of Perlis have been chosen as
sportsman and sportswoman of the 14th Malaysia games which ended here today.
Ahmad Shafie won gold medals in the K2 100m, K1 100m and K1 500m events.
Ju Pha grabbed four gold medals through the 3km individual pursuit, 10km
scratch and sprint, and 500m time trial. She got silver in the keirin event.
Ahmad Shafie, 20, hoped that he would be chosen to represent Malaysia in the
SEA Games in Indonesia in November.
Ju Pha, 18, said she never missed any training session in preparing for the
games.
She said the honour accorded her would inspire her to work harder for future
success.
Ahmad Shafir and Ju Pha received their trophies from Youth and Sports
Minister Datuk Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
