Andy Lau for Hong Kong Chief Executive

22 Feb – Netizens in a forum have sounded out their hopes for Hong Kong's multi-talented star Andy Lau to register himself to be in the running for the position of Hong Kong's Chief Executive.

The 51-year-old film producer is being backed by various artistes via Twitter with their desire to see him bring Hong Kong to high grandeur.

Although, sources has revealed that there are some citizens of Hong Kong that are not so supportive of this movement as they are still questioning Andy's integrity – as he had kept his marriage to his Malaysian wife, Carol Choo, in the dark for a long period of time before the media broke out the news.

The Tai Po-born hunk has responded that he has no interest in the post whatsoever as he is looking forward to the arrival of his first child with his former-beauty-queen wife, Carol – who is expected to deliver in June.

"HK citizens need not pay taxes for 20 years, and there will be free education, medical, housing for life and benefits for the elderly." were the lines spoken by Andy who plays the Chief Executive of Hong Kong in 2046 at the end of "Golden Chicken 2", to which many viewers were pleased by the star's perfect impersonation of a Chief Executive.

The position currently seeks for future candidacy as the post's prior hopeful candidate Henry Tang Ying-Wen was caught in a scandal involving his wife and an illegal deal of extending the basement of a building.

The term of current Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen will end on 30 June.

How do you feel about this article?

This is the biggest joke of the century. If Andy Lau is qualified to become the chief executive of HK, Mark Lee can become the Prime Minister of Singapore. Is that possible. We are talking about taking charge of the economy of a country and not sitting on a chair shouting "cut" real crazy. Moreover he is not even well educated, probably like Mark Lee, who didn't even pass his O'level.

He graduated from a HK college equavalent to our Poly graduates. He joined TVB immediately after graduation but did some delivery job prior to that. He has no other working experiences besides acting and singing. Does that qualified him to be the Prime minister of a strong economy country like HK. Only idiots would think he is qualified.

It's probably a joke. You are famous and good looking doesn't mean you can govern.

And to answer some of the posters - Politics, like any other careers, can be dirty and can be royal. All depends how one do it.

As a doctor you maybe able to save hunderds, but as a good politician you can save millions. Think about Dr. Sun Yat San.

It's better for Andy Lau to stay out of Politic. Politic are dirty.

His only quality for a politian is that he can lie very well. He has been fooling so many of you about his marital status, what other things he cannot lie about?

He is not interested. Its artists who wants to back him up if he wants to go for it, but he has no intention. So what are all the comments abt his lies and why he cannot govern got to do with it?

Of course he is not interested because he knows he is not qualified. A man who has only a college qualification to become the leader of a country like HK, what a joke.

if he succeeds, he will be known as "Ronald Reagan" of the East. An actor who became a USA President in the 80s. In fact, nothing in life is impossible. What is impossible to achieve are those things one who do not try at all.
      • Ronald 3 months ago
"Ronald Reagan" of the East? I think this fate was achieved by Estrada of the Philippines when he became president of that country.

Why not? He is also welcome to Singapore to be our leader.

As long as he have the heart to help Singaporeans too with his Golden Chicken promise!

haha ! I believe you welcome for his generously promise but him !

That's interesting! Put it in Singapore's context, he will wayang wayang around and when things go wrong he will just sing a few songs to calm the people down. If that works, then he receive an award at the yearly "Celebrity Award Celebration" if not produce another wayang loh.

this fellow is dishonest. For his own career benefit, he cheated on his fans that he was single. For not acknowledging his wife in public (except in recent years), he has proven himself to everyone what a selfish person he is, and he expected his wife to bear with that. HK will be doomed if this liar and true-blue-actor sits the top-most seat.
    • RG  •  Singapore, Central Singapore  •  3 months ago
Not possible at all. Even if those idiots in HK choose him, the China govt which controls HK will not agree.

“Andy Lau for Hong Kong Chief Executive”, which side will you be
      1) The English side
      2) The Chinese side
      3) Self-Proclaimed to be the King side (will be impossible without a boxing match and who willing to die for you)
    • KuntaKinte  •  Singapore, Central Singapore  •  3 months ago
Another liar, worse than Henry Tang, not even dare to admit having a wife, how HK people can trust him?
    • Ritchie gan  •  Singapore, Central Singapore  •  3 months ago
There is this extreme fallacy that when you are popular, you can do the job of just anyone. Andy Lau can be a singer and an actor, but that does not mean that he can be a Chief Executive of a country. Brains do not switch over just like that !
