Oita stays in title hunt with win over Omiya

OITA, Japan - Defender Masato Morishige scored a late goal Sunday as Oita Trinita defeated Omiya Ardija 1-0 to extend its unbeaten streak to nine games in the J-League.

Morishige picked up a rebound after corner in the 87th minute and slotted it home to put Oita within two points of leader Urawa Reds.

Urawa moved into first place on 40 points from 22 games after beating Jubilo Iwata 3-1 on Saturday.

Nagoya Grampus is second with 39 points, one ahead of Oita.

Also on Sunday, Kawasaki Frontale moved into fifth place by defeating JEF United Chiba 1-0 with North Korean striker Chong Tese scoring in the 27 minute.

Yokohama F Marinos edged last-place Consadole Sapporo 1-0 courtesy of a second-half winner from Takanobu Komiyama.
