Tropical storm kills 11 in Vietnam

HANOI, Vietnam – Disaster officials say Tropical Storm Mirinae has killed 11 people, left two missing and forced families onto rooftops in central Vietnam.

Officials say floods killed 10 people in Phu Yen province and one in neighboring Binh Dinh province after the storm struck Monday.

Disaster official Nguyen Van Hoa says several villages in Binh Dinh suffered the worst flooding in four decades after the Ha Thanh River surged over its banks.

The storm struck the northern Philippines over the weekend, leaving 20 people dead there.
