Most of eastern Asia will see tranquil weather Tuesday as a high pressure ridge dominates the region. Dry weather with minimal cloud cover are expected from central China through the Korean peninsula. By late evening patches of clouds in northeastern China and areas of North Korea can be expected, with patches of light rain developing in the area late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
A weather disturbance northeast of Taiwan may produce moderate to heavy precipitation as it progresses northeastward through the East China Sea to just south of Japan with the heaviest rain expected over open waters of the East China Sea and the northeastern Philippine Sea. Light to moderate showers will spread into Kyushu, Shikoku, and the southern half of Honshu during the afternoon and evening hours.
Tokyo will see temperatures in the mid-10s Celsius, while Seoul will rise into the lower 10s C. Shanghai will see temperatures in the mid-10s C.
In Australia, a swath of light to moderate showers will fall across western Queensland and South Australia as low pressure lingers in Queensland. Light showers may also develop in the central and coastal areas of New South Wales and coastal areas of Queensland. High pressure along the Great Australia Bight will keep the remainder of the country under fair and dry conditions.
Sydney will see temperatures in the lower 20s C, while Melbourne will rise into the upper mid-20s C. Brisbane will see temperatures in the upper 20s C.
