The new suite of iPads launched by tech giant Apple will go on sale in Singapore on 1 November.

The sleek, skinny iPad Air comes in Space Grey and Silver, and a 16GB Wi-Fi version will go for S$688, while the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions will sell for S$828, S$968 and S$1,108 respectively.

Need data? Prices for the cellular-capable models will start from S$870 for the 16GB iPad Air, going up to S$1,008, S$1,148 and S$1,288 respectively for the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.

Meanwhile, Singapore's telcos SingTel, StarHub and M1 have yet to release their individual data price plans for the new iPad Air.

What's new about the iPad Air? It weighs less than 500 grammes and is 20 per cent thinner than its predecessor, the fourth-generation iPad with Retina display.

Alongside the new iPad mini with a retina display, unveiled at the same time, the iPad Air is powered by an A7 chip with a 64-bit architecture, which promises improved responsiveness and up to 10 hours of battery life.

Following Apple's simultaneous launch of the latest version of the OSX, the iPad Air will go on sale on the same day it launches in the US, Hong Kong, Japan and China.

It also announced price cuts for the older iPad mini model, as well as modest internal improvements to the MacBook Pro line.
