Ashton Kutcher is reportedly keen to help estranged wife Demi Moore without “pushing her over the edge”.
Demi was rushed to hospital last month and was treated for exhaustion. Rumours also circulated that the star was getting help for substance abuse and an eating disorder after checking into a rehab facility.
Demi was left devastated last year after reports emerged that her husband of six years Ashton had cheated on her on their wedding anniversary. But despite their split, the actor was seen visiting his estranged wife’s home recently.
Sources claim the meeting was amicable and Ashton lent his support to Demi in her time of need.
“Ashton brought Demi flowers and stayed a couple of hours during one of his visits. He held her hand and they kissed and joked. Demi knows now that it’s over between them and she needs to move on. She’s regained her appetite and Ashton reassured her that he’ll be there for her,” a source told British magazine Closer.
“He wants to be around, but he doesn’t want to push her over the edge.”
Demi’s ex-husband Bruce Willis also took time to visit the star. The pair – who have three daughters together - have remained close, and Demi hopes to establish the same kind of friendship with Ashton.
“Bruce has been a rock to Demi. She’s hoping she can have the same kind of relationship with Ashton that she has with Bruce,” the insider added.
“She’s still hurting badly but her loved ones are hoping that the worst is over. She’s having therapy at home and seeing a Kabbalah grief counsellor.
“The hope is that she can make a big comeback at the Academy Awards parties this month. But, while friends and family are rallying around her, Demi’s still in a dark place.”
