    Assault not a racial issue, says man in KFC attack

    Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - The graphic designer who was assaulted by a fast food outlet worker is urging the public not to turn it into a racial issue, saying the real matter is about customer service.

    Danny Ng also denied uttering racist comments that provoked the attack at a KFC outlet in Shah Alam on Monday.

    "I regret the allegations of racial sentiment and urge Netizens to stop all this nonsense as they were not at the scene," said Ng, 26.

    Ng only lodged a report at the Petaling police station on Wednesday as he thought he had no proof of the assault.

    "I found out on Facebook that somebody had posted a video clip and I lodged a report after that," Ng said at a press conference at Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng's service centre here.

    Ng had visited i-City on Monday with his wife and sister to redeem vouchers worth 132 ringgit (US$44) which were bought online two weeks earlier.

    The vouchers, which would have expired the next day, included a meal at KFC as well as admission to the ferris wheel, snow house and outdoor rides.

    The three went to the restaurant at 10.15pm and saw long queues as many customers were redeeming their vouchers.

    After waiting for about 45 minutes, Ng heard customers ahead of him complaining that there was not enough chicken.

    "After the cashier told us they had ran out of chicken, some of us complained.

    "One of the kitchen staff said, Sudah habis, apa lagi mau? (There is no more chicken. What else do you want?)'," he said.

    He said a worker then uttered derogatory remarks, following which he asked to see the manager to complain.

    Ng claimed that the manager refused to attend to him.

    At this time, Ng's wife claimed that she saw several workers brandishing steel bars from inside the kitchen and quickly pulled her husband out of the restaurant.

    However, Ng was dissatisfied and re-entered the restaurant to photograph and take down names of the workers.

    "When I raised my phone to take pictures, a group of them rushed out from the kitchen. A few of the staff members tried to intervene but one of them ran towards me, grabbed my neck and punched me on the back of my head," he said, adding that they would be meeting representatives from KFC to resolve the matter.

    Meanwhile, a spokesman for the company confirmed three employees had been suspended pending investigations.

      KFC should refund customer and apologise for the service lapses, meanwhile to Mr Ng pls lah no more chicken must make noise until like that ar? u get yurself into trouble u deserve it lah bodoh.. be reasonable lah u want tip top service go to high class restaurant lah

        Absolutely nothing racial and civil in this incident. Using force against someone unarmed was improper & unwanted reaction in the eyes of law. If the KFC staff had observed the basic rule i.e. Customer is always right, this'd not have happened. KFC or any service provider is fully aware of this basic PR philosophy!

      Biasanya well established fast food outlet baik McD, KFC, or even A&W, semua staff dah di equipped dgn proper training especially macam mana nak handle customers' complaints. Business yg berorientasikan service ni memang perlu staff dilatih dgn cukup demi menjaga nama baik company. Insiden ni nampak macam customer ni nak tunjuk jaguh. Memang bahasa perkauman tak disebut (mungkin) tapi bahasa kesat yang terlampau pasti mengundang kemarahan sesiapa yang mendengarnya. Memang ada orang jenis macam ni tak kira Cina, India, Melayu, Mat Salleh ke... ego yang tidak terkawal... ayam punya pasal... voucher punya pasal.... takkan sampai nak maki maki staff situ. Mereka tu makan gaji... bukan nya besar pun gaji mereka. Hormatlah sikit sesama manusia. Kalau nak complaint, bawak ke management level, nak marah, marahkan management, bukan staff bawahan. Anyway, perkara dah berlaku.... Ikut sangat perasaan.... Padan Muka !!!! kena debik...

      same situation happened to me when i used to work as a front office assistant of a hotel before..i had nearly become as the same victim of this "BERLAGAK" people. they shouted at me as if i was deaf, and they thought I only had to serve him only because he was rich and ignore the others?????I know customer is always the KING , but don't treat the staff like an animal.. we are human too..we have feeling too...we are not bustards.. Use the proper channel to fire us n not to speak up so rudely...it might stir great anger of certain staff who r more emotionally and bad-tempered when handling job in busy environment! Expect the UN-EXPECTED!

      I used to work in the service line too as a vacation job, don't be discourage to all service workers... you know how to handle all these rude snobs...just be more polite and courteous to them with a smile to show that you r more cultured then those rich snob and they will be shy and keep quiet and turn away.... I did that to a arrogant girl and she finally left the restaurant with a big thank you politely...

      I guess in all coupons they do state subject to availability, since that is the case that there is no more chicken and you are so desperate to redeem your coupon then drive to the next nearest KFC lor....In the first place, morale of the story...don't redeem your coupon in the last min....and pls don't need to fight over chicken...be a gracious society....

      Always the staff will used the sold out about closing time so they will not be delay in doing the closing. I worked in the F & B line when I was much younger, the sup or leader will
      ask the staff to prepare for closing 30 mins B4 actual closing n not prepare more foods for
      sale just tell customer the items sold out for the day or to prepare the item n cooked
      will pass closing time. In even customers in Q; to count them and tell the items can
      only available for X number (IE 16) then tell 17 person in Q that he/she will be serves, in
      true facts just the sup or leader foreseen good sale can always prepares for more sale.

      Who lost in the case the company profit and lost in customer confident.

        @Eddy R... The dudes were not FORCED to work in the service line. Service line = serve. Whomever works in the service line should not act like this regardless whether they're Malay, Chinese, Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani or whatever.

        I've seen mamak shop workers behave better than these KFC dudes who so happen to be Malay.

        These dudes most probably baru lepasan form 5 and don't want to continue their education. They take the easy route to work in the service line. but with this attitude, they'll NEVER get anywhere in life.
