Socceroos midfielder Brett Holman has emphasised his desire to leave Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar as he seeks a fresh challenge abroad.
Holman will become a free agent at the end of the season and the Daily Telegraph reported this week that Aston Villa, Fulham and Blackburn have all expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old.
However Holman told The World Game that there hasn’t been any concrete offers as of yet.
“Right now the clubs being mentioned as being interested are just rumour and speculation”, Holman said.
He added: “There’s been plenty of talk in the media about where I might go but there has been nothing official come my way yet.”
If negotiations with clubs ceased by the end of the transfer window, Holman was hopeful of signing a pre-contract to resolve his future.
“After January I can sign a pre-contract if somebody comes in and that’s positive proof that a club wants you," he said.
The Socceroo also stated his determination to achieve success for AZ as the league leaders return to competitive action after a month-long winter break.
“In the meantime, the club is in a great position and I have the chance to go out on a high here," he said.
"We are still in the Europa League, the Dutch Cup and also top of the league, so hopefully we can press on a repeat in the second half of the season what we accomplished before Christmas.”
Having moved abroad from Australia to fellow Eredivisie club Feyenoord as an 18-year-old Holman has gone on to forge a successful career in the Netherlands, including being part of AZ’s victorious league campaign in 2008-09.
So far this season Holman has scored six goals from 21 appearances in all competitions for AZ, as well as playing a key role in Australia’s World Cup qualification for Brazil 2014.
