Big win for "Big Hero 6"

18 Nov – Walt Disney's "Big Hero 6" gets its big win this week as it debuts first at the Malaysia and Singapore weekend box office but slipped to second place in the U.S., as "Dumb and Dumber To" snagged the top spot for the 13 to 16 November 2014 weekend.

The long-awaited sequel to 1994's "Dumb and Dumber" opened last weekend in North America grossing over USD 36.1 million, pushing last week's heroes of "Big Hero 6" down to the second place with its collection of USD 34.6 million.

Christopher Nolan's sci-fi "Interstellar" maintains its stellar spot in the top three by placing third, collecting a total of USD28.3 million over the weekend in North America.

"Big Hero 6" might have gone down a rung in the U.S. but it managed to place first in its opening weekend in Malaysia. Last week's first place, "Interstellar", moves down a notch to second, while third place is nabbed by yet another newcomer, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2".

Singapore's first and second spots in its weekend box office chart mirror Malaysia's as "Big Hero 6" also debuts at first place while "Interstellar" takes second. Meanwhile, "Dumb and Dumber To" opened at third place.
