Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - The Star iPad launches Travel Bug today, a travel column dedicated to chronicling the holiday adventures of some of today's biggest personalities.
This week features MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, who shares some of his favourite destinations.
Dr Chua, who hails from Johor, said he preferred being amid nature's beauty while seeking respite from his busy schedule.
"You get a sense of peace when you are surrounded by greenery," he said.
Among his favourite holiday getaways are Zhangjiajie (a prefecture-level city in Hunan province, China) and Jiuzhaigou Valley (a mountain range on the edge of the Tibetan Himalayan Plateau).
On the homefront, Dr Chua shared that Langkawi makes a good travel pick.
Besides the abundance of sun and sea on the island in Kedah, Dr Chua also likes the good food, which is widely offered there.
On his favourite places to eat, Dr Chua revealed: "My favourite food is Johor laksa, which, unfortunately, is not easily available here. Johor laksa is somewhat different from the ones in KL. It is more veg-based and I like it because it is appetising.
"The other thing I really like is fried carrot cake with eggs and bean sprouts, which is only available in Batu Pahat (Johor) and small towns."
Travel Bug will appear on The Star iPad every Friday.
