Find paradise for less with Black Friday, Cyber Monday hotel deals

Shopper alert! Electronics and fashions aren’t the only things on sale on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you snap up time-sensitive deals on those big shopping days, you can check beaches, dude ranches, ski resorts and spa destinations off wish lists without breaking the bank.

Here’s a sample of the deals on offer. Note that they are subject to availability and usually cannot be combined with any other promotions, packages or discounts.

Mexican seaside

Some of the world’s ultimate seaside getaways are on the Pacific Ocean. One that’s seen a host of celebrities — among them Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Sting and Jennifer Aniston — is Mexico’s Las Alamandas in Costalegre. The height of luxury, the resort even has its own landing strip. Set on a 1,500-acre nature preserve with four private beaches, it’s perfect for active travelers looking to hike, surf, kayak, fish and ride horseback.

Las Alamandas’ seven villas with 16 exquisitely appointed suites are 50 percent off during the resort’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, with rates starting at $244 a night. Travel can take place anytime between Dec. 2, 2013, and December 19, 2014, except for one blackout week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. When booking at www.alamandas.com, or via email at info@alamandas.com, use the offer code CYBERSUN.

Desert spa oasis

The Morocco-inspired Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale is an ideal getaway for spa buffs with its award-winning Joya Spa, which offers authentic Hammams on its extensive menu. Luxury cabanas surrounding the resort’s three swimming pools are perfect places for taking in sunsets breaking over Camelback Mountain.

Coming down the pike on Cyber Monday: rooms normally starting at $299 on sale for $229, including add-ons valued at $110 such as daily breakfast and a $25 resort fee credit. The offer, available by calling 888-627-3010, is valid for travel through Jan. 15, 2014 with blackout dates Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

Joya Spa is offering either its 50-minute Classic Massage or Transformation Facial for $89 (service must be booked on Dec. 2 for any day through Dec. 31, except Saturdays).

Southwestern dude ranch

Tucson’s Tanque Verde Ranch (TVR) fulfills Wild West fantasies with a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale that cuts the all-inclusive property’s starting rates in half for stays of four or more nights. Riding trails, penning cattle, fishing or — as cowpokes have been known to do — swimming and “spa-ing” are among a bounty of itinerary offerings.

Always included at TVR are three hearty meals daily, a supervised children's program for ages 4 to 11 and an array of on-property activities ranging from horseback riding to mountain biking through cacti-laden desert trails. This deal is valid for arrival dates of Nov. 29 this year through March 10, 2014.

Ski to golf destinations

‘Tis the season for swooshing down the slopes. Then there’s snowshoeing, sleigh rides and snowboarding. Another big plus for many ski destinations: They’ve got hot summer activities, too, from golfing and fly-fishing to mountain biking and kayaking. Grab a winter deal and, while you’re chilling in the snow, start scoping out the scene for warm-weather endeavors.

Two Auberge properties, Pronghorn in Bend, Ore., and the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo., are stepping up to the plate with deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, respectively.

New to the Auberge collection, the five-star Pronghorn is set on 640 acres of prime golf country. Now it’s turning its sights on skiing with its Mt. Bachelor Early Season Package. Available on Black Friday only, the package starts at $358 for a two-night stay Dec. 4-18 and includes two one-day lift tickets to Mt. Bachelor. Resort fees and taxes are additional. To book, call 855-318-4040 or go to ph.reservations@aubergeresorts.com.

The Cyber Monday sale at Aspen’s Hotel Jerome makes skiing Colorado’s Rocky Mountains easy with its 30 percent discount on three-night-minimum stays through the end of ski season. The package, which must be fully pre-paid and is non-refundable, can be booked here. Beyond slope access, Hotel Jerome is also a prime location for Aspen’s year-round events including jazz, film, dance, food and wine festivals.

Jackson Hole, Wyo., holds its own siren song for ski buffs with Cyber Monday deals from two hotels, the Hotel Terra and Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa. Both hotels offer five-night-minimum room packages at 20 percent off, with a free three-day lift ticket for one adult. The package is non-refundable and full payment is required at time of booking. An extra perk from the Hotel Terra package: a $20 daily breakfast credit. Not only do both properties offer prime skiing and access to national treasures like Grand Teton National Park, they provide access to some of the area’s best views via the fairways of Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis and Teton Pines.

Cosmopolitan metropolitan

Stealing away to the big city from the suburbs brings thrills ranging from theater and fine dining to museums and, of course, shopping. Rates start at $139 per night with a choice between a complimentary room upgrade to a suite or free breakfast for two.

Those who heart New York will find theirs racing over Triumph Hotels’ two Cyber Monday packages. The first offers 30 percent off two or more nights at one of the company’s six Manhattan hotels. The second lasts for only one hour, from 1-2 p.m. EST, with premium rooms and suites at 50 percent off for stays through March 2014. If you desire Upper West Side, Iroquois, Tribeca or Midtown locales, this deal is the ticket.

In Boston, the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Cyber Monday deal offers rooms starting at $125 per person (minimum double occupancy) with a one-level upgrade from a Fairmont Room to a Deluxe Room confirmed at time of booking. That’s for stays at the historic Back Bay hotel from Jan. 1-March 31, 2014.

A holiday gift unto itself is the Radisson Blu Warwick Hotel’s Cyber Monday bargain. The Philadelphia-based hotel is offering its new business-class rooms for $19.26 until they’re sold out. The deal is limited to one reservation per person and a maximum of two nights per reservation for stays through Feb. 28, 2014.

Set in San Francisco’s bustling Union Square, the Hotel Abri’s Black Friday deal offers a $99 weekday rate valid on stays Dec. 1, 2013 through Jan. 31, 2014. Suddenly, the city’s Passport to the World New Year’s Eve Ball is looking more doable.
