4 actors who could replace Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter

By Daryl Dominic Tan

The poster boy for Harry Potter will always be Daniel Radcliffe.

But is that a blessing (the 22-year-old actor is more recognizable than the Prime Minister of Britain — did you know it's this guy?), or a curse (Good luck Dan, shaking off everyone calling out "10 points to Gryffindor!" when you're trying to quietly get a decent cuppa coffee)?

If Daniel ever thought of quitting, I think these actors can step in to be the Boy Who Lived.

Gaspard Uliel

I trolled massively online to get some feedback on Daniel's acting, and the vibes I'm getting aren't so positive (ie, "cheesy" and "over-dramatic"). Check out Monsieur Gaspard, a French actor known to specialize in the "realist" style. Take away the French accent and perhaps, just perhaps, we would have had the perfect Mr Potter.

Where you might recognize him from: He played the young Hannibal Lecter in "Hannibal Rising".

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Wait. Wait. WAIT. I know he's the dopey, starry-eyed wanderer from "500 Days of Summer" but did you see how much ass he kicked on "Inception"? Just drape over that wizard's robe, plop on those glasses and get a mop of hair and let your imagination take over. Then again, anyone who manages to con Ellen Page out of kiss deserves a second look.

Where you might recognize him from: If it's not from those two movies I just mentioned, then where on earth have you been?

Haley Joel Osment

He was Steven Spielberg's original choice to play Harry Potter, until JK Rowling said:"No, they must speak like me."

But come on, the kid's a great actor (although be frank, he hasn't aged very well). This role would have tested his versatility and ability to switch his American accent for an English one (as it did for Hugh Laurie on "House", though Hugh switched from a British accent to an accent that would be used by a mad genius doctor based in New Jersey).

Where you might recognize him from: Seeing ghosts and being nominated for an Oscar in "The Sixth Sense".

Elijah Wood

If ol' hobbit-tall Danny boy had a twin, it might as well have been Elijah Wood. Not only does Elijah bear a striking resemblance to what Harry Potter looks like, but he acted in the mother of all fantasy epics, the "Lord of the Rings". Impressive portfolio if you ask me, AND Elijah's managed not to have anyone bugging him about "my precious" as he waits in line to order a venti latte.

Where you might recognize him from: As adorable Frodo.
