The writer missed one point. There is one more change. More parrots sat in.

The writer missed out another point. PAP MP does not worry about being vote out in 2016.

They have bought an insurance plan called "GRC"

I don't see how leopard can change its spot that easily. Judging from today's predicaments with housing, healthcare cost and immigration policies (which has an impact on our infrastructure), it would be more programmatic to help support a credible opposition and not left to one party rule.
      • Kyle79 7 months ago
this is exactly one of the crucial things bout' them I was thinking too.
      • Fazli 7 months ago
yes. Leopard doesn't change its spot. Changes usually due to aged and increasing number of hunters around.

All talk only, we Singaporeans will watch and see what PAP is doing now. If they fail to deliver their promises it's out with them in GE2016
      • Papadam Singh 7 months ago
Don't hold your breath on those empty promises. You will turn blue in the face... or worse. Keep healthy. We will need your vote in GE 2016.

None of the ex-ministers had anything to say to defend their failed policies!? I guess why would they bother when the $$$$$$$$$$ is already in the pocket.
      • Cubicle 7 months ago
$$$$$$$$$$ already in pocket? You forget their ridiculous pensions, payable from age 55 even if still drawing multi-million dollar salaries?

These failed ministers are STILL taking our $$$$$$$$ every month ok? More $$$$$$$ than you'll be making in the prime of your work like.

So BLAMING it on LKY ????

LARGELY due to the MPs NOT WORTH their SALT and CREDIBILITY in NOT ABLE to FIGHT for RIGHT and TRUTH !!!!

So WHO SAY PARLIAMENT is BETTER in any WAY ????? STILL a BUNCH of BOOTLICKERS watching OUT for their OWN INTEREST !!!!
    • Tan  •  7 months ago
I agree "many PAP MPs knew that if they didn't perform well in the public eye, they would be voted out in the next election." That's the reason why we need more quality opposition parties, or PAP's MP will just "sit" on the policies without putting the people interests into consideration just like last time.
      • old man 7 months ago
PAP MP from sembawang GRC talking with no quality should voted her out.
    • fang  •  7 months ago
credit goes to the opposition parties. for they represent the voice of singaporean.
and we wanted our voice to be heard.
without opposition, then it would be business as usual where parliament people hardly talk.

now we should have better quality debate in parliament.
and singapore will grow prosperity !!!

Only when PAP lose a GRC and that the opposition parties increase its numbers in parliment that PAP started to come out and say 'Singaporean First'. What happen before that? only when all of us dare to come out and comment on their policies which clearly benefit them that they start to say 'Singaporean First'. All of us have been fools for so many years now. I am not saying that all PAP policies are not good but most of it are crabs i.e education policy, housing policy, FT policy. Thus in the next election, I encourage all of you to vote in more opposition so that the PAP cannot implement policy that does not benefit us like in the past.

Right....everyone better perform and do their part so to keep their seat in coming 2016....we are watching.....closely and surely

Why do we need so many MPs ? The size of Singapore remains as before and yet putting in reduntant represpresentives to manage, not for the better but become worse. For those without any porfolios, it becomes their part time job while they only stress it out for their employers at the expense of public spending. It is more meaningful to reduce the number of MPs in next GE and using their salaries to engage more doctors to serve the community ?

Our write, Mr Seah CN said the new Parliament sitting is now more open minded. Wonder where he got this perception ? Through press reports and TV coverage, we see our "learned" MP tried to demolish every issues utter by their Opposition. There was no debating skill. The manner they voiced their opinions to cut down the other party is no different from my friends in coffee shops arguing louding to attract attention but just like an empty vessel. Our PM should develop their public speaking skill to analyse the issues more positively and give out constructiove comments or alternative suggestions with dignity for the benefits of our Singaporeans who do not have the chance to speak at this platform.

WISE WORDS: Here, too, we have had incessant rental increases that produced no innovation or opportunity for others, except the landlord. "We must not allow capitalism to continue strengthen the powers and wealth or a small group to exploit the population and encourage an ever-widening income gap," one surfer said.

Property investment is the biggest SIN in Singapore. It denies others from having an affordable home. I urge all those with deep pockets to consider other classes of investments like stocks. The government should impose tax on all property investment gains and ban foreigners from buying property here. HDB flats should be owner occupied and partial renting should be allowed only for Singaporeans.

Intelligent parliment? Then have to replace them all. Less greedy is a good start.
    • Sing  •  7 months ago
With more opp MPs , the Papies cannot just talk and talk without making any justification and transparency . Unfortunately , it have to be this way to ensure common folks (like us) is not taken for a ride ! Still , the sad part is some Papies (new and old birds ) still live in the PAST and the high handed rebuttal to views from the WPs .

Remember LTK challenged PM Lee about Mas Nasi Lemak's escape and someone needs to answer for it, and Lee looked him in the eye and repeatedly said he is overall responsible and WKS has already admitted his oversight? Does it mean all Ministers are shielded from accountability and will not be fired even if they failed in their roles? Can someone pls shoot this question to Lee again?

For past decade we were told that they deserve extreme high pay because they are rare , unique and extremely talented but 40% voters know its not the truth which the govt has always painted a fake big picture .

Refuse and rejected the liars and voted the opposition , only after this election people realise that all this while the govt has been taking advantage , greed , threathen , bully ,supress , oprerss , robs , mislead , legal corupt , and take advantage from the problem the govt created .

people can see through and no longer buy the old pap version ,

I phone 4S came into picture and nowadays people puts in some opposition into parliament and expect to see some changes and REAL competitveness in parliament , real discussion ,real debates , real changes .

one word , the ghovt can fool the older generation and when the old generation dies away sme to our old style of pap govt has been burie together with the old folks .

The new world order generation has no choice but to wake the pap , govt , mp , parliament up and to move forward .

It is true everyone can see the pap driver sleeping for past decade and thats why people need to bring in some opposition to slap the driver when it choose to fall sleepy again .

All this is good for singaaporeans , and this duno nation or country

Trying to have a more Open Approach without changing the mindset of PAP Ministers & Stat Board is still driving us into the ditch.
    • thethethe  •  7 months ago
The PAP representatives also took the cue from Hsien Loong when he himself had publicly apologised for government mistakes in the past five years, especially in public housing, transport and healthcare.

MY foot, Its all bullshit as all singaporeans known after his apologised.
The transport immd. increased the fare.

DUN bullshit and dun wayang, Singaporeans will never never believe all the monkeys wearing in white anymore. We singaporeans will change you out at GE2016...

most disappointed with tin pei ling's attempt at addressing parliament short speech n no substance. paid $15k p.m. just to say a few meaningless words? my grandmother oso can do that for free!
    • lucile  •  7 months ago
Singaporean looses when our parliament is dominated by one party. No one will air their family dirty-linen in public. No can of worm will be opened. Having credible and strong alternative party in parliament is beneficial for Singapore and should be a common goal for all Singaporean..... those who tell you otherwise are simply lying throught their teeth...

To me it does not make a different as long as the cost of living is high and the Minister salary are not cut to the bone. I dont think the minister salary are justified as you can see - one minister are out of words. The different will only take place in 2016 GE.
