Show us your plans.

In the People's Action Party (PAP) rally held at the Serangoon stadium on Saturday, Foreign Minister George Yeo called on the Workers' Party to show voters their plans for Aljunied GRC.

"They (the WP) are creating an emotional dilemma for the voters of Aljunied GRC. But much more than that, they are playing with the lives of over 140,000 Singaporeans voters who live in the GRC," said the Minister to rousing cheers from the estimated 6,000-strong crowd.

The Minister -- who is the incumbent at Aljunied GRC but faces a stiff fight this time for the constituency from the WP -- said voting WP was like "signing a blank cheque".

He gave the example of asking WP about their policies and getting a "vote us in first" response from them.

"If they capture power, I don't believe their first concern is for the people here," he said.

Besides Minister Yeo, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Transport Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Mr Ong Ye Kung, Mr Zainal Abidin Rasheed and Madam Cynthia Phua were also present at the rally, in which a variety of freebies such as ice-cream, bottled water, PAP balloons, a mini-PAP flag and a badge that says "In George We Trust" were handed out.

Mr Yeo's maiden rally speech was also interrupted several times by the crowd who exploded into boisterous chanting -- "We want George Yeo" -- with many holding up boards to show their support for the Minister.

VOTERS TORN

Despite the fanfare, several voters whom Yahoo! Singapore spoke to said they're undecided about their decision come Polling Day.

"I'm a little confused now. To vote for George would be logical because they've been here for so long but what if the opposition get voted out? There will not be any opposition in the government and that's quite bad," said Mrs Lim, a homemaker who had also been to the WP rally.

Another 58-year-old taxi driver who declined to be named also said he was not worried about MM Lee Kuan Yew's recent remarks that property prices would fall and voters would "pay a price" if the opposition was voted in.

"I'm not worried about the threats thrown at us. I believe it's natural for the value of HDB flats to drop," he said.

Aljunied Town Council chairman Madam Phua also did not agree that Aljunied residents would suffer if the WP was voted in but thinks that "the residents of Aljunied GRC must look at what the Worker's Party has to offer and they must make the decision."

When Yahoo! Singapore spoke to Minister Yeo if he agreed with MM Lee's comment, his simply reply was, "We don't intend to lose."
