O and A blood donors needed: SRC, HSA

statement

on Thursday.

"In view of the upcoming long weekend, SRC and HSA aim to ramp up the current blood stocks to meet the daily transfusion needs of patients as well as for bleeding emergencies," said both organisations which monitor closely the daily national blood stock.

The public can donate blood at the community bloodmobiles this weekend on 20 and 21 August at Bukit View Secondary School, Bloodmobile @ Hwi Yoh CC (Saturday) and Punggol 21 CC and Clementi CC (Sunday).

Donors need to bring their NRIC (Singaporeans) or passport (non-Singaporeans). More details are available at www.donorweb.org.

"As blood can only be kept for a limited period of time, we seek the support of blood donors to help us ensure a constant supply of blood," the two agencies said.

They urge healthy individuals between 16 and 60, weighing at least 45, as well as donors who have not made a donation in the last 12 weeks to step forward to help.
