Popular ladies retail company Forever 21 apologised to local celebrity Gurmit Singh’s daughter, Gabrielle, after her open letter on the store’s offensive music went viral on social media.
According to her Tumblr blog update and Gurmit Singh’s latest Facebook status on Wednesday night, Forever 21 apologised on behalf of the staff in its 313 Somerset outlet for playing misogynistic rap music.

Hong Kong leader ready to meet with students
Hong Kong's leader said Thursday he is ready to start talks as soon as next week with student leaders of the pro-democracy protests that have rocked the city for nearly three weeks.
The announcement suggests a breakthrough in a bitter standoff between the authorities and pro-democracy protesters, who have taken over major roads and streets in the city center since Sept. 28 to press for a greater say in choosing the city's leader.

West Africa Ebola deaths near 4,500 – WHO
A total of 4,493 people have died from the world's worst Ebola outbreak on record by Oct. 12, statistics released by the World Health Organization showed on Wednesday.
WHO said a total of 8,997 confirmed, probable, and suspected cases of Ebola had been reported in seven countries. These include Spain and the United States, where a handful of healthcare workers are ill, and Senegal and Nigeria, which appear to have prevented further spread of the disease.

South Korea foots 70% of North's Asian Games bill
South Korea said Thursday it would pay more than 70 percent of the $700,000 costs incurred by rival North Korea when it took part in the recent Asian Games in Incheon.
The issue of subsidising the North's presence at the September 19-October 4 Games became problematic ahead of the event, when Seoul proposed breaking with its custom of supporting visiting sports teams from the North.

Rising star and possible future prime minister of Japan, Yuko Obuchi was under fire Thursday over reports she has spent political donations on make-up, in a blow to the most prominent of a new wave of women ministers.
Obuchi, a mother of two, was tapped by premier Shinzo Abe in September as the country's first female minister of economy, trade and industry, a powerful portfolio that includes oversight of the energy sector.
