Malaysia-Singapore high speed rail details to be finalised next year




Malaysia will start finalising details with Singapore on the upcoming High Speed Rail (HSR) project in the first quarter of next year.

Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said this to Malaysian and Singaporean reporters at the High-Speed Rail Conference 2014 here today.

Singapore inflation eased to 0.6% in September on back of lower housing costs



But food inflation inched up last month.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Monetary Authority of Singapore today revealed that Singapore’s CPI-All Items inflation eased to 0.6% in September from 0.9% in August, on account of a smaller increase in services costs and a further decline in accommodation cost.

Despite wealth, Singaporeans worry about retirement



For 45-year old Singaporean civil servant Muru Nagaraju, saving for retirement is a major concern.

"It's certainly one of my biggest worries. I'm lucky because at the end of the month I do have enough to save and I do have some alternative income in terms of shares etc," he said.

‘Human tetris’ takes place on jammed Lakeside MRT platform



A video of passengers crashing against one another at the top of an escalator leading to the platform of a train station in Singapore is moving quickly on social media, prompting questions about the responsiveness of staff there.
 
The 36-second video, posted by Facebook user Joel Rasis, shows commuters arriving at the platform of Lakeside MRT station from an up-riding escalator, but because the area appears to be full, they promptly end up sandwiched between one another.
