A Chinese woman delivered her baby in a bathroom at a hospital in China while her doctor slept.

The woman known as Liu Lan or A lan went to Nancheng People's Hospital in Dongguan of Guangdong province on 13 September, for induced labour.

Liu received two injections to induce labour but did not experience contractions until the wee hours on 15 September, ChinaSMACK reported.

When Liu felt the pain, her hired helper asked for help from nurses and Liu's doctor but he could not be found. Liu was told that the doctors were sleeping and nobody attended to her.

The pain she felt was so intense that Liu kept trying to push her baby out on her own, her water broke and Liu bled heavily. The nurse had her hired helper to change the blood-stained bedsheets.

Enduring her labour pains, she went to the bathroom at around 6am with the help of her family and friends.

Liu said, "Not a single person came to help me. When I asked for the doctor, he simply stood there saying it (the labour) wouldn't be that quick."

She added that at that moment, she was in unbearable pain and wished she might as well just die.

Liu went into labour and gave birth to her baby on the toilet bowl.

"When I was in a lot of pain, he should have helped me to the delivery room. If the baby came out there, I have nothing to say," said Liu.

"But I was completely weak and helpless and he let me have the baby in the bathroom. He didn't even come when the baby came out," she added.

Other patients in her ward said that no doctor showed up to assist Liu and recalled that a nurse told Liu her doctor was sleeping. They also witnessed a nurse telling Liu that her situation was normal and she has to bear with it a little longer.

A lan was asked to leave the hospital on 16 Setepmber, Shenzhen Daily reported.

After paying the bills, the director of the hospital's obstetrics department offered Liu S$160, saying it was from nurses and doctors.
