Year In Review 2014: Singapore viral videos

A number of videos caught the attention of the Singapore online community this year, and we've chosen five that sparked a lot of reactions -- good and bad. Watch them to take yourself back to events that happened this past year.

 

1)   Singapore Tourism Board advertisement

A promotional video by the Singapore Tourism Board produced for the Philippines by Philippine network ABS-CBN drew flak for its cheap production values and cheesy content.

 

2)   Singapore road bully car video footage

Footage of a Honda Civic chasing and tailgating two other cars led to a young man being dubbed a “road bully” by netizens. He later released a video apology.

 

3)   SMRT captain brings smiles to commuters

Many people responded positively to our own video of an SMRT train captain who makes cheerful announcements while on duty.

 

4)   ShiGGaShay – Lion City Kia

Singaporean hip hop artist Pek Jin Shen brought together youths of different ethnicities in one multiligual music video that truly defines Singapore’s youth.

 

5)   Anton Casey calls Singaporeans “a wuss”

Former banker Anton Casey was the talk of the town for his social media posts about his Porsche, public transport and a Singapore cabbie. However, fanning the flames of anger further, was an older YouTube video showing him calling Singaporeans "a wuss".
