Body found floating in Kallang River

UPDATE: The case has been classified as unnatural death. Police are investigating.

The body of a Chinese woman aged about 60 was discovered floating in the Kallang River on Monday (21 Nov) morning.

A resident in his 40s, who declined to be named, told Yahoo Singapore that he was taking his morning walk along the river when he saw a small crowd gathered near Block 38A Bendemeer Road.

“I looked in the river and saw a body floating there,” he said.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the incident at around 7.10am. It dispatched one fire engine and an ambulance to the stretch of Kallang River

After the body was retrieved, paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
