Mr & Mrs Smith, the boutique hotel guide which prides itself on adding a romantic touch to weekend getaways, has launched a new iPhone app which adds some spice to hotel search.
The free 'Plan or Play' app, available now in the iPhone App Store, features the hotel booking functionality standard in many travel apps today, but adds an extra twist in the form of how-to guides and fun games to be played while traveling -- all with the aim of making that weekend away more enjoyable.
By hitting the "Play" button, users can access extra content including a "Truth or Dare" game, email templates with pre-written absence excuses for the boss and guides on everything from making the perfect picnic to how to make a minibar cocktail.
In a fun addition which has earned the guide a 17+ rating from Apple, users can set the "sauciness" of their truth or dare game before shaking the iPhone for a challenge -- the winner, according to Mr & Mrs Smith, is "whoever has the most dignity intact when you decide to stop."
To enable couples to make beautiful music together, the app also includes a "TuneSmith" feature which plays tracks selected by the brand based on a "mood" selection from the user.
The British firm isn't the first to pimp its app with music -- W Hotels launched its own upbeat take on an iPhone booking tool in May -- but it's another excellent example of how brands are ensuring consumers get a little bit more from the app they download.
Tamara Heber-Percy, Mr & Mrs Smith's cofounder, said "everyone is jumping on the app bandwagon, but we’ve made sure our app is irreverent, practical and fun – just like our brand."
The app can now be downloaded from the App Store, and the company is working on adapting it for other platforms, with an iPad version set for release later this year.
