Britain's Duchess tops Vanity Fair international best-dressed list

Catherine Middleton has topped Vanity Fair's annual international best-dressed list, while more unusual appearances in the top ten come from the likes of 83-year-old photographer Bill Cunningham and 80-year-old reporter Morley Safer.

Showcasing the "international cream of 2012's fashionable crop," the full list appears in the September 2012 Vanity Fair Style Issue.

Praised by the fashion world for championing British labels such as Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen as well as high street retailers including Zara and LK Bennett, it comes as no suprise that Britain's Duchess of Cambridge took the top spot.

The magazine's 73rd list also includes actresses Jessica Chastain and Léa Seydoux in second and fourth place respectively, while royals including Britain's Prince Harry and Monaco's Charlotte Casiraghi also made the compilation.

An array of fashion industry insiders also made the list, such as Carlos Souza, worldwide brand ambassador for Valentino, and Erika Bearman, senior vice president of global communications at Oscar de la Renta. The latter is better known for her Twitter handle OscarPRGirl, and took to the social network to tease that making her debut appearance on the compilation made her feel "royal".
