'Cameron's decision to deploy 'Apache helicopters' in Libya will risk Brit soldiers' lives'

London, May 30 (ANI): British Defence Secretary Liam Fox has warned that Prime Minister David Cameron's decision deploy Apache attack helicopters in Libya would endanger the lives of British forces in that country. "It is quite right that if we use attack helicopters there is an increased risk - they fly at far lower heights than the fast jets would, obviously at lower speeds than the fast jets would, and they are more susceptible," the Daily Mail quoted Fox, as saying. Four of the aircrafts would begin attacking Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's tank columns this week to increase the military and psychological pressure on the dictator to give up power, the Daily Mail reports. The Ministry of Defence confirmed yesterday that it would also begin using 2,000lb 'bunker-busting' bombs to destroy Gaddafi's command and control centres. Meanwhile, Defence experts have also warned that the decision is risky because Apache helicopters are much easier targets for rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire than the fast jets, which have been used against the Gaddafi regime till now.
