News reached Grazia HQ this morning that the Carey Mulligan Met Ball Prada dress has sold! The dress was put up on ebay two weeks ago with the starting bid of £310 to help raise money for American Oxfam. Since then fashionistas have been battling it out to get their hands onto the custom-made Prada frock. The bidding closed earlier this week with a total of 35 bidders fighting out - it eventually sold for £1,860!! We agree that this is a lot of money yet for such a magnificant garment we can't help but think what a bargain!! We only regret not putting in a bid, boo!

While we're on the Met Ball subject, we couldn't ignore this little gem: if you’ve ever wondered just how these lovely ladies get out of their form-fitting gowns after a night of schmoozing, Nina Dobrev of 'The Vampire Diaries' fame has the answer. She revealed on the 'The Conan O'Brien Show' that she had to be CUT OUT of her black-and-gold backless Donna Karan gown so that she could er, wee. How glam! And because Nina’s dress was made from actual vintage metal (oh yes) the starlet had to be sewn into the gown just before heading to the swanky soiree. Eek! THEN had to call a Donna Karan minion to release her out of her dress every time she needed the toilet before sewing her back in using an emergency sewing kit. Now, that's dress dedication!
