29 Aug – "Sherlock Holmes" director, Guy Ritchie has chosen "Pacific Rim" actor, Charlie Hunnam to take on the role of the historical British leader of the medieval era, King Arthur in his own take of the story produced by Warner Bros.

Variety reported that Hunnam's "Pacific Rim" co-star, Idris Elba has been chosen as to play King Arthur's mentor-like figure, Merlin.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Godzilla" actress, Elizabeth Olsen has been in talks for the role of the main female lead.

Before, "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor Jamie Dornan was suggested as a potential candidate to take on the lead role of "King Arthur", but ironically he ended up taking the lead role of "Fifty Shades of Grey" which originally had cast Hunnam to play the part, as reported in Dark Horizons.

Other than that, "Man of Steel" actor, Henry Cavill and "I, Frankenstein" actor Jai Courtney also read the part along with Hunnam.

10 years ago, Disney released its version of "King Arthur" starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightley.

Also, Warner had previously tried to develop an "Arthur and Lancelot" project with David Dobkin as the director, but the project never made it into production.

Guy Ritchie's "King Arthur" film is currently slated for a release in 22 July 2016 in North America.
