Will Charlize Theron, Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow Wear Victoria Beckham Dresses to the Oscars 2012?

The race for who'll dress the Oscar attendees gains apace and the latest designer to be thrown into the ring? Our very own Victoria Beckham. News reaches us that the designer has been inundated with requests from Hollywood actresses vying to be dressed in one of her effortlessly elegant gowns.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'Although it's a great place to be in, Victoria's been working day and night to keep up with demand. She's also preparing for New York Fashion Week and feels under enormous pressure.' Poor poppet.

But! If rumours are to be believed, having Hollywood heavyweights such as Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz wearing your gowns on the biggest night of the year is an undeniable triumph. The most likely VB-wearer is Gwynnie P. The lithe actress has already proved herself to be a fan of the beautifully tailored creations, sporting not one but three of the designer's frocks. First up, she donned a sleek slate grey shift with slight padded shoulders to promote Iron Man 2 back in April 2010. Then she stepped it up a gear, rocking a metallic cocktail dress for a charity party. And to seal her VB obsession, the blonde beauty sported a red padded-shouldered frock with a nipped-in waist and flippy skirt, also seen on Sarah Jessica Parker.

As for Cameron Diaz, she too has been spotted in more than one of Victoria's frocks. Most recently, the actress made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno wearing a nude curve-clinging dress that made the most of those leggy legs. Will she be backing British come 26th February?

And what of Charlize? At last month’s Golden Globe Awards, the actress wore a pink gown from Dior's Couture collection and on the Oscar red carpet in 2010, she also chose a Dior stunner. So surely, as the face of the French brand, she'll be back to more Dior this year? Or will she surprise us all by becoming a new member of the VB fan club? 

Perhaps Lady B is working on party numbers for those attendees heading to post-ceremony shindigs. Besides, her signature cocktail frocks are more dance-floor friendly than sweepy red carpet, no? Victoria herself has worn her own creations to Elton John’s bash after the Oscars - first in 2009, then in 2010 - winning approving nods from the fashion industry.

What's more, Cameron Diaz donned one of VB's designs for the Vanity Fair Party in 2010, choosing a knee-length dress from the Autumn / Winter 2010 catwalk that was suitably shimmery [above]. Plus, the Victoria, Victoria Beckham is packed with cutsey party dresses perfect for shimmying in. Oscar nominee Michelle Williams has already snapped up one of the scallop designs to attend the BAFTA Awards tea party last month.

And let's not forget Mrs Beckham is due to show her Autumn / Winter 2012 collection in New York next Sunday. Will the designer fill her catwalk with fabulous red carpet-worthy gowns to ensnare those A-listers? Here's hoping...
