Cindy Crawford Puts The Brakes on 10 Year Old Daughter Kaia Gerber’s Modelling Career

Eep. After stepping onto the world stage with a leading role in the Young Versace campaign, Cindy Crawford’s ten-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber, has had her modelling career stalled by her famous mom.

Cindy has revealed that she’s putting the brakes on her daughter’s career – for the next seven years at least, telling ‘The Daily’ that ‘at this point, she’s too young to pursue a career.  There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl… 'But if she's 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?’

Kaia’s first job was an undeniable success, commercially – the images looked great, she looked super cute, and everyone was happy. However, in the wake of the images being released, Cindy received some pretty fierce criticism for allowing her daughter to take a part in the campaign – though it wasn’t necessarily the shoot that was the problem, per se, but the short skirt which Kaia modelled in the lead picture. And this may – or may not – have contributed to her decision to stall her daughter’s burgeoning career.

Cindy also revealed in the interview that Kaia has a hilarious opinion of her mother’s job of choice, saying ‘she kind of jokingly said - I'm not even sure if it was jokingly - 'I might model first because you don't have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse’.

    ROFL.

Cindy, of course, was a muse for Gianni Versace during his lifetime, and was understandably enthusiastic about her daughter’s participation in the Young Versace campaign at the time the images were released. ‘I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign… I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace.' She also said that the shoot, which she had sat in on, had been a 'fantastic experience' and said of her daughter ‘I am so proud of her’. Aww.

Versace matriarch, Donatella, was equally enthusiastic about her young protégée, saying ‘'Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her’.

it's nice to see a parent that still has morals, and acts like a PARENT instead of their kid's friend. way to go cindy.

Why did she let her do it in the first place then? I am confused, but it is good she did put the brakes on her MODELING (Yahoo editors: ModeLLing???? Can't you spell???) career for now.

you're incorrect. Like canceling, modeling only has one "l" as do most words ending in "l" Nice try, loser!

He/she is correct... YAHOO got it wrong, and he/she was
pointing that out. Save the name calling for the playground.

I think the person she was modeling for was someone instrumental in Cindy's career and she is close to him.

WOW...What do you know. A mother being a real mother. What a concept. I see Tots and Tiera's and I want to throw up. It is just to much for these kids. THey should be out palcying. NOT lookin like they are 21. The mothers should be ashamed. Discusting as best and sends a wrong message toth e children that they NEED to be pretty, they NEED to be perfect, they NEED to be the best. Thank you cindy for taking a step in the right direction. Your daughter has a full life in front of her and she needs to be a child...Thanks. Maaybe some of these boso mothers out there will learn something from you.

That's what a parent is suppose to do, parent. At 10 yrs old, they don't know what dangers are out there, but the parents do. Way to go Cindy. (Sorry Coetken, stole a line from you. LOL)

Right On "Cindy C"!! Let that child have a chance to grow up. I was surprised that you have let things get this far, so soon!! Tell her that 12 years from now, she will be just as beautiful, indeed even more so, when she has maturity in her favor. Cindy C, I know you will do the right thing!! lol Doc

Was a smart move to introduce her to the field with the fond respect she has for Versace family who could keep a closer eye on the shoot, but I agree, let the kid be a kid first and later if she wants a try to earn some money to become that baby nurse, more power to her!
Glad to see her brother's hair is shorter now since I never liked it when it was long-- he is much cuter with it short.

So you don't want her to model now, yet she has already modeled? Doesn't make since. Cindy, you are an idiot.

Thank goodness, she came to her senses. I, like many here, thought the photo shown above was a bit too much expopsure for a ten-year-old. She's a beautiful child, but let her be a child.

Way to go Cindy! You know what the pitfalls can be and kudos to you for keeping your daughter in an age appropriate life!
    • dlflyers  •  Philadelphia, United States  •  3 months ago
there is nothing age appropriate about a picture of a 10 year old with her skirt blowing up and almost showing her crotch..it borders on already exposing her ass as it is...so cindy is lauded as being a "good parent" when it appears to me she is just upset about any negative press she got for this...this is disgraceful parenting by both of them...
