With those unique selling points on the rich culture of South Indians, such works have increasingly fetched better prices at international auctions.

Gnana continued: “We have very good masters and very good collections who can be internationally recognised. Now almost all of the artists are internationally recognised and they are also in auctions.

And observers said it’s about time these masterpieces, get the attention they deserve.

Vidhya Gnana Gouresan, a curator, said: "There had been a lot of Indian art collectors from all over the world. But when you talk about Southeast Asia, it has been undervalued for a very long time.
