National Research Foundation reviewing research grants

SINGAPORE: The National Research Foundation (NRF) is embarking on the first reviews of the strategic research programmes it has funded, ahead of its next five—year plan for research investment.

The first mid—term review, for its Interactive and Digital Media programme launched in 2006, was recently completed.

By the end of the year, reviews of the Biomedical Sciences—Translational and Clinical Research programme and the Environment and Water Technologies programme will be carried out.

The NRF and the Education Ministry will also set up an International Review Panel to get feedback on the performance of its four Research Centres of Excellence.

The findings will be discussed at the NRF Board meeting early next year.
