When it comes to Mother's Day, most men get it wrong: survey

When it comes to purchasing gifts for Mother's Day, more than half of US men get it wrong, according to a new survey.

While the survey found that most women prefer a gift card to her favorite store to celebrate Mother's Day, most men often buy flowers or jewelry.

Women ranked their second most-wanted gift to be something homemade, followed by a spa day, jewelry, and roses. Yet 55 percent of men believed that women most wanted roses and jewelry, followed by a gift card, a spa day, and perfume.

The survey of 1,000 American adults was funded by Ebates.com, an online shopping site offering cash-back rewards and discounts, with data collected in April.

The survey also found 28 percent of men will spend between $20 and $50 on a gift for mom.
