Congratulations to Giles Deacon For Scooping Designer Of The Year: Here Are Your Red Carpet Hits!

At the World Fashion Awards in Moscow this week, Brit boy Giles Deacon picked up the best award going - Designer of the Year. And we’re so thrilled for him. The London based designer has as accomplished a CV as they come – designing at Jean Charles De Castelbajac in Paris then at Bottega Veneta and the Gucci Group before showing his own first self-titled collection, Giles, in 2004.

No stranger to scooping up prestigious industry honours; In November 2004 he was awarded 'Best New Designer' at the British Fashion Awards, then Giles bagged the Elle 'Best New Designer' accolade in February 2005 and in November 2006 was awarded 'British Designer of the Year' at the British Fashion Awards. Sheesh over-achieving much Giles?!

We’re not even a little bit surprised that Giles’ creative talents were recognised again in Moscow, after the A/W 2012 show blew us away during LFW in February. Andrew Holden, Grazia’s Senior Contributing Editor described the collection after the show as being “full of historical references, dark romance and melancholic beauty… the collection was full of poetry and artistry that really played to Deacons' strengths as a spinner of sinister stories.” And our man Andrew is a tough critic so that level of praise from him is pretty mega!

Other winners from the World Fashion Awards were Cartier for the best video advertisement of the year and Ermanno Scervino, who was honoured for "his support and the contribution made to the development and promotion of Italian fashion in Russia." Congratulations to all the winners, especially you Giles!
