Cry baby Vonnie

18 May - Busty Hong Kong soft porn star Vonnie Lui Hoi-Yan was happy that audiences at the recent Cannes International Film Festival laughed at the Hong Kong jokes in "3D Sex And Zen: Extreme Ecstasy" but cries when recalling setbacks during filming, according to Apple Daily.

She plays the Elder of Bliss in the Category III flick, widely touted as the world's first 3D porno movie, starring Japanese AV models Yukiko Suo and Saori Hara.

Facing an avalanche of criticism on the Internet last month over her role in the movie, Vonnie burst into tears during a party to celebrate the film's successful box office returns.

Moviegoers in Hong Kong were reportedly furious that the busty actress did not really expose her nipples as advertised in the 3D erotica.

Online forums are said to reflect the general complaint that the shot in question lasted just two seconds, while others views indicate that they never appeared at all.

She was quoted at the party as saying: "I really did expose my two nipples, which was what was required in the contract."

"I don't need to be naked all the time in the film. Why do they target only me? It makes me feel like I'm not an actress, but a prostitute! I feel very insulted."

In an immediate response, film producer Stephen Shiu Jr was quoted by the same source as saying that the DVD release will have the scene lengthened to four seconds.

"3D Sex And Zen: Extreme Ecstasy" topped James Cameron's sci-fi adventure "Avatar" and broke Hong Kong's one-day record for box office takings, en route to reclaiming its producer's earliest record for the highest-grossing Category III movie of all time notched by the 1991 original.

The 3D erotica, touted as the world's first stereoscopic 3D softcore porn before the honour was usurped by South Korea's "Natali", raked in HK $2.79 million (US $360,000) on its first day, according to the Hong Kong Motion Pictures Industry Association.

Earlier, the 27-year-old "Slim Till Dead" and "Love Education" beauty was at the centre of controversy when she attended a press conference for upcoming film at the Film and Television Market (Filmart) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai with "nothing underneath" by her own admission.

Reports from Cannes indicate that "3D Sex And Zen: Extreme Ecstasy" will play in Italy in June and France in July. This is said to make up for lost revenue due to it not being screened in strict Mainland China – a lucrative territory in which was not an option for the producers, who declined to try for distribution from the outset itself.

Meanwhile, there is no word about the previously-intended 28 April release of "3D Sex and Zen" in Singapore under Golden Village Pictures, which has apparently been postponed indefinitely.
