    CTIA Wireless inspires new tablets, 3D & 4G smartphones and wireless chargers

    CTIA Wireless has been at the forefront of high-tech product releases announced the week ending March 23.

    The long list of products launched at CTIA Wireless include the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and 8.9 tablets, the HTC View 4G tablet, the LG Thrill 4G, the LG G2x, the HTC Evo 3D, the Nokia Astound, and wireless charging stations from LG and Energizer.

    A super-spec'ed smartphone with 3D and 4G

    HTC's Evo 3D is a smartphone powerhouse with all the latest features. The device packs in a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, a 4.3" high-resolution auto-stereoscopic screen -- which at a resolution of 960×540 is close to matching the iPhone 4's retina display -- 3G/4G mobile Hotspot capacity for up to eight devices, and a 1.3MP front facing and dual 5MP rear-facing cameras for 3D images and videos. The HTC Evo 3D will arive "this summer" and pricing will be announced closer to release date.

    A glasses-free 3D smartphone for entertainment enthusiasts
    First on the menu from LG is the Android-powered Thrill 4G, a glasses-free 3D handset which is essentially a re-branded LG Optimus 3D. The Thrill is made for entertainment enthusiasts and features a 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen, a 1GHz dual core processor, dual stereoscopic cameras for capturing 5MP 3D photos and 720p 3D video, and DLNA wireless streaming. The LG Thrill is due "in the next coming months." No price has been announced

    A superphone with a dual core processor

    LG's G2x with Google (aka the LG Optimus 2x) is a high-end 'superphone' equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 4G connectivity, an 8MP camera, 1080p video capture and full HDMI mirroring. According to tech blog Engadget, the G2x will be the first phone to ship with NVIDIA Tegra Zone Android app -- an application that helps users discover premium games for Android. The G2x will arrive later in Spring.

    A tablet with dual-core processor and 3D cameras
    LG's first tablet, the G-Slate (aka the Optimus Pad in Europe) is an immersive multimedia device with a 8.9-inch display. It also happens the be the world's first tablet with a built-in 3D camera. The G-Slate was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February, but new details about pricing have just been revealed. The 8.9" Android Honeycomb device will come with a $529.99 price tag after a $100 mail-in rebate on a two-year contract.

    A 7" Android tablet for people that like to write with a pen
    The HTC Evo View 4G tablet is the American version of the company's recently announced Flyer tablet. The 7" Android 2.3 tablet has a 1024 x 600 touchscreen display, 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP and 1.3MP cameras, 3G/4G Hotspot for up to eight devices, 32GB of internal memory, microSD slot and HTC's Scribe Technology which uses a digital pen to "unlock new capabilities." Pricing and availability are yet to be announced.

    An entry-level handset built to 'Astound' first time smartphone users
    Nokia is tapping into the first-time smartphone buyer market with a low-cost device called the Nokia Astound. The Symbian 3-powered device (which is essentially an updated version of the Nokia C7) comes with an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash, 720p HD video capture, a 620 megahertz processor, free turn-by-turn navigation, and access to Nokia's Ovi Store. Consumers in the US can purchase the device for $79.99 after a $50 rebate on a two-year contract from April 6.

    An 'over the air' charger for all your digital devices
    Energizer's Inductive Charger with Qi (pronounced "chee") lets users charge their portable digital devices without having to plug them in. Energizer utilizes a recently agreed upon standard for induction-based charging meaning any Qi-compatible device can be placed on the wireless charger to charge without the need for adapters. No price or release date has been announced.

    A cable-free charger that powers up your smartphone in 2 hours
    LG announced it will have its own Qi-based wireless charging solution, the LG WCP-700 Wireless Charging Pad. The charger will charge a smartphone without the need for any external connections in around 2 hours. It features tactile feedback to let you know when a device is properly placed on a mat and colored LED lights which indicate charging status.
    The LG WCP-700 will be available in early April for $69.99.
