Mini versions of high-profile Formula One drivers, official circuits with high-rise bends and loop de loops: Codemasters has gone off the beaten track in F1 Race Stars.
Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Vettel and Fernando Alonso feature in the game's teaser trailer, with Grosjean, Rosberg, Senna and Kovalainen among drivers waiting in the wings.
At first blush, the game looks like it has as much in common with the fantasy stunt tracks of high-speed racer Trackmania and jostling, colorful, power-up mad Mario Kart or Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing as with its F1 forebears in F1 2010, F1 2011 and F1 2012.
Monaco, Silverstone and the Circuit of Americas are some of the tracks to be given a fantasy twist in F1 Race Stars.
The game promises 4-player split-screen action and 12-player online racing, a championship-based career mode, and a November launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
