The Wii U edition for action game Darksiders II has a number of features that embrace the new console's unique functions ahead of its November launch.
The game is one of 23 titles to be made available when the Wii U makes its global retail debut in North America on November 18.
If players use a TV screen as the game's main display, the tablet-style Wii U GamePad will show their maps and inventory items.
Alternatively, they can turn the TV off (or leave it free for someone else to use) and see the game's action on the GamePad screen itself.
Though Darksiders II has been out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC since August, those who obtain the Wii U version will receive several pieces of extra content, giving them more to explore and better items to equip from the start as they take charge of Death, one of four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
It's a tempting prospect, though vigilant console gamers will be mindful of the likelihood that both Microsoft and Sony will have announced, if not brought to market, successors to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by November 2013.
