Didier Drogba has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons ahead of Galatasaray's crucial Champions League encounter against Schalke on Tuesday, missing a penalty in his side's 1-0 league defeat against Genclerbirligi.
The Cote d'Ivoire international came off the bench after 65 minutes when the Istanbul giants were already trailing 1-0, and won a spot kick in the closing stages of the game.
However, he failed to find the net from 12 yards as his attempt sailed wide, much to the frustration of the former Chelsea striker, who angrily kicked out at the spot following his miss, and was unable to make amends.
The 34-year-old will be desperate to bounce back in Tuesday's match versus Schalke as the Turkish giants have set their sights on a spot in the quarter-finals after being held to a 1-1 draw in the Istanbul leg.
Schalke filed a protest to Uefa over the eligibility of Drogba after the first match, but saw their complaint turned down by European football's governing body.
Singaporean director Anthony Chen described as “surreal” the 15-minute standing ovation that followed the world premiere of his debut feature film "Ilo Ilo" at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday. Though the ending of the premiere couldn’t have been more perfect, the 29-year-old Chen said the beginning was quite “nerve-wrecking” as it was marred by technical glitches.
