"Drug War" for theatrical release

13 Feb – Director Johnnie To's upcoming crime film, "Drug War" is ready to be released in theatres after going through production stage for more than a year.

According to Popular Asians website, after receiving positive feedbacks at its Rome Film Festival premiere in November last year, the Louis Koo and Sung Honglei starrer finally get its release date during the height of the Lunar New Year holidays.

In "Drug War", Louis Koo portrays a Hong Kong trafficker who agrees to be an informant for the mainland Chinese cops in a drug ring bust after he was arrested and threatened with a death sentence in mainland China.

The Hong Kong-China co-production will also feature a large ensemble of Hong Kong and mainland actors, including Huang Yi, Wallace Chung, Gordon Lam, Eddie Cheung, Lo Hoi Pang, Gao Yunxiang and Michelle Ye.

The principal photography for "Drug War" began in December 2011 with the production using five mainland locations including Guangzhou and Zhuhai in the course of the five month filming.
