Three days into the Euro 2012, players, journalists and fans have provided plenty of speculation and insight on the first matches, but no one could have predicted that Denmark would pull off the tournament's first upset by beating the Netherlands.
French sports journalist Didier Roustan (@DidierRoustan) is certainly impressed by Denmark's unexpected win in what is dubbed the Group of Death: "If Denmark manages to maintain its level of play throughout the first round, Group of Death will sound like an understatement, it's more like the Group from Hell!!! pfff..." Benoit Pellevoizin (@Benco_1976) opines: "What if Denmark ends up leading the Group of Death, much to everyone's surprise?"
Germany's 1-0 win over Portugal was lacking in passion, according to French journalist Vincent Duluc (@vincentduluc): "Regarding Germany v. Portugal, one must distinguish between being strong on defense and only playing defense. How boring!"
Spanish fans have reason to worry following their team's lackluster performance against Italy, which ended in a tie. Player Gerard Piqué (@3gerardpique) lived up to his position on the pitch with this rather optimistic line of defense: "I'm resting in my room after a very hard match against Italy! 1-1 isn't such a bad outcome! Come on!! #eurocopa2012!"
Ahead of the much anticipated England v. France match, former English player Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) seems pretty confident about his team's chances: "1 thing I'm sure of today is we won't get beat, trust me! we will frustrate the French then sucker punch them!!"
