Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) and partner Royal Selangor have unveiled the new design for the 2011 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix winner's trophy.

Inspired by a Chinese saying, which translates to "within the four seas, all men are brothers", the design symbolises the union of different nationalities under the spirit of fair sportsmanship.

The slim panels on the trophy, which have a satin, brilliant and glossy black finish, represent the different nationalities of the drivers and skyscrapers along the race track. They were arranged sporadically to create a sense of movement akin to the speed of the race.

The 587mm-tall trophy will be lifted by the first, second, third and construction winners of the race.

SingTel’s director for brand experience Cheryl Wang said they wanted a trophy that is in line with the F1 theme this year, which is ‘Fast is Amazing’.

“The team at Royal Selangor has created a trophy that truly evokes the speed, dynamism and unifying spirit for the race,” she said.

Miniatures of the trophy will be available at all Royal Selangor stores. Replicas of the trophy will be placed at the SingTel  road show at Tampines Mall from 12-18 September and at Royal Selangor stores at Clark Quay from 1 September and Marina Bay Sands from 2 September.

The 2011 F1 SingTel Singapore GP will be held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from 23 to 25 September.
