    The new pastel movement

    Stop press: important sock analysis just in

    This week we discovered that men really like to talk about socks, judging from the amount of readers keen to comment. It's probably best if you draw your own conclusions from that. Writer John Crace lived the sock dream for a week in a bid to ascertain whether life is better when your toes are cocooned in cashmere. He contemplates needy folk who favour branded socks, "business socks" and "golf-bore" socks. His favourite by some distance was the Falke Lhasa, should any sock connoisseurs among you wish to know.

    The Milan fashion shows kick off this weekend, but just to whet our appetites Valentino jumped the gun by showing in Florence this week.
