What your favorite MMORPG class says about you

If you’ve tried and enjoyed multiple MMORPGs, you probably have a favorite character class. It’s often the first character you try in any new game, and whether or not you enjoy playing this class determines whether you continue playing or not. You probably have your own reasons for favoring it, but have you ever wondered what it says about you?

(See: Which of these 14 popular MMORPGs did you play growing up?)

Knight

You like getting things done not only with strength and skills, but also with style. You like a challenge and prefer to face it with as few risks as possible. Your sense of caution allows you to study situations, and then properly plan to achieve the best possible outcome. You don’t like things that you can’t understand, but once you’ve decided to do something, you do it right then and there. When faced with a problem, your solution is often a tried and tested one. You’re open to trying out new things once in a while, but only if it doesn’t mean you have to compromise a lot.

Barbarian

“What are you going to do about it?” is basically your motto. You do things your way regardless of whether it makes you look silly or not. Once you’ve set your mind on something, it’s basically unchangeable unless something drastic (like the end of the world or a new raid boss) shakes it. You like moving forward and hate it when things get prolonged, postponed, or worst of all, restarted. It doesn’t matter if your progress is fast or slow. What’s important is that you keep moving. Whether it’s tasks big or small, you’re never stumped, because there’s nothing that cannot be solved with a good thump on the head. Or several…

Assassin

You believe in high risks yielding high rewards. You like your life fast-paced with snappy, constantly changing things happening at the same time. Slow, monotonous routines are definitely not in your book. You can make decisions on the fly, focus on the task at hand, and prefer to worry about mistakes later. Even in your fast-paced world, you have a keen eye for detail, which is useful when adapting once things go wrong. And if it does go horribly wrong, you chalk it up to experience and move along. Life is too short to spend worrying!

Mage

What is the difference between many little tasks and one giant worry? It doesn’t really matter to you, because you file them under the same category of “things that need to be taken care of.” What matters, however, is execution. You like action, but you like it nice and flashy. If it’s amazing, people should be able to tell just by looking at it. It also creates a good bluff just in case you mess up.

You prefer working with abundant resources because time can be better spent on actually solving the problem. Once you’ve found your groove, you can keep up with the same routine for long durations without complaints. In fact, you like working on an well-organized routine because it doesn’t make sense disrupting a properly working system. You live by the saying “hitting two (or more) birds with one stone” because sure, working hard pays off, but working smart is much better!

Healer

You like keeping yourself busy with the smaller things that other people don’t see or pay much attention to. Multitasking while keeping things organized and under control comes naturally to you even under pressure. And even if things spiral out of control, people can rely on you to keep a cool head to implement some damage control. When working with a team, you’re fine with either leading or following, whichever is required to get the job done. You might be someone in the background, but that doesn’t matter compared to what you bring to the table.

Archer

You are patient and observant, and prefer sizing up the competition before doing anything. You are a cunning, resourceful sort who can make the best of whatever is at your disposal. You don’t like risks—even calculated ones—and make sure to have backup plans just in case. You like thinking, but not in the middle of chaos, as your decisions are better made with a clearer head away from the fray. Focus is something you do well, but only if you’ve taken measures to distance yourself from the danger as much as possible. After all, you can’t be too careful.
