A fire has broken out at Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate on Monday, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

SCDF received a call at 6.44pm for "a case of smoke showing" at 8 Kaki Bukit Avenue 1. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes using two water jets and there were no persons injured at the scene.

SCDF also said that the fire had involved contents of a switch room located on the ground level and that four fire engines were despatched with three supporting appliances. SCDF is currently investigating the cause of fire.

A person known by the Twitter handle @birdlovetotwit earlier posted a Tweet stating that a fire had occured in the industrial area, opposite Housing and Development Board (HDB) residential blocks 639 and 640.

The Twitter poster shared a photo of the scene at about 7:25pm on Twitter stating that an “industrial fire” has occurred at Kaki Bukit and that simultaneous explosions were heard from the scene.

An hour later, the eyewitness posted another photo of the same location — huge plumes of thick black smoke could be seen.

From the image, it appears that Singapore Civil Defence Force fire fighters are already at the scene.

Yahoo Singapore will bring you more details as they become available.
