Five long weekends in 2013
There are five long weekends to look forward to in 2013 when public holidays fall on either a Friday or Monday.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Manpower on Monday morning, eleven days have been marked as public holidays.
But if office staff take an extra day’s leave when the public holidays fall on a Tuesday -- New Year's Day (January 1) and Hari Raya Haji (October 15) – there are another two chances for an extended break from the office.
Chinese New Year in 2013 has also been marked for 10 and 11 Feb but office workers can enjoy a four-day long weekend from Sat to Tues, because the following Tuesday has been declared a public holiday.
* As Chinese New Year falls on Sunday 10 February 2013 and Monday 11 February 2013, the next day, Tuesday 12 February 2013, will be a public holiday.
