Forget Gold, This Year's All About Palladium Thanks To A London Fashion Week Jewellery Collab

We've just heard some exciting news. Forget about bronze, silver and gold, this year is all about Palladium! An ounce of the silvery-white precious metal has been given to 12 up-and-coming jewellery designers as part of a British Fashion Council collab with the International Palladium Board.

Now if someone gave us an ounce of precious metal we'd be straight down the bank, but these designers will each be producing a Palladium ring. The so-called Rock Vault Dozen  will then be exhibited in Somerset House during London Fashion Week in September, dahling.

The brands selected to take part include Alexandra Jefford, Fernando Jorge, Hannah Martin, Hillier, Husam El Odeh and Imogen Belfield. Their rings will join the work of other designers as part of LFW's dedicated Rock Vault exhibition including  Palladium capsule collections from Jordan Askill, Fernando Jorge and Hannah Martin.

The Fashion Council hopes the event will help the designers develop business contacts and gain exposure. It's being chaired by Stephen Webster who said, "The Rock Vault Dozen is the first incentive illustrating how this extraordinary platform for emerging, British-based jewellery talent can embrace and collaborate with the ever changing economics of the industry. Palladium, an ancient metal with newly acquired precious status, therefore new to many, is introduced to the consumer through the creative genius of the designers within Rock Vault. BFC, the panel and the International Palladium Board are very excited by the exceptional level of creativity generated by the RVD and look forward to the unveiling during the upcoming LFW.”
