    Free TV streaming apps popular with iPhone users in UK, Germany

    Over the past seven days the most downloaded free iPhone applications in both Germany and the UK have been related to streaming TV programs. In the UK, ITV Player allows users to watch programs from a variety of ITV channels for up to seven days after they were broadcast. In Germany the application Zattoo, which allows paying users to stream live TV, was also popular. Elsewhere in the world, French iPhone users were playing American football, Australians were trying to escape jail and those in the USA were practicing making cold drinks. The top free iPhone applications by country* for the week, by number of downloads, recorded on July 4 can be found below.

    01. USA 
    ICEE Maker (games) 
    This application is themed around the creation of the frozen beverage made in America by the ICEE company. Users of this app can try their hand at creating their own cold ICEE drink, by choosing the drinks flavor, customizing the cup and even cleaning the machine.

    Users of this application from British TV Channel ITV can view programs on their handset up to seven days after they were broadcasted. The application covers programs shown on the following ITV programs, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4; a wireless connection is required to view content.

    Backbreaker 2: Vengeance

    This American football game was updated on June 30 to celebrate the launch of Backbreaker Vengeance on Xbox Live Arcade. Updates to this popular sports simulator include a "vengeance mode," allowing gamers to tackle, rather than run with the ball, new moves and two new stadiums.

    Players of this game have to guide their bird past dangerous flying objects and obstacles. Each bird has a special ability such as invisibility or being able to travel through time. As players progress through the game more and more birds become available.

    Players of this 3D puzzle game have to escape from jail by using only the objects in their cell, a number of which are hidden from view and must be 'found' by searching the surrounding environment.

    TV Digital: Zattoo Live TV

    This live TV streaming application claims to provide users with content from over 40 German and international  channels, including ARD, ZDF, Sport, France 24 and CNN international. In order to watch these programs, either online or via Zattoo's website, users must pay to subscribe to the service.

    QQ 2011

    This application, updated July 2, brings the Chinese-language social messaging service QQ to the iPhone. The iOS version supports multiple accounts, picture-integrated chat and saves the last seven days of conversation with friends.

    This name of light-hearted application translates loosely as "My Job" or "My Occupation." Users of the application press their finger against the screen, the app then 'scans' their fingerprints and, based upon the characteristics of the user's print, suggests the job that would suit them best.
