Google+ trends: Jagit Singh’s birthday celebrated

On Friday, February 8, Google+ users are remembering late musical maestro Jagit Singh's birthday.

The Indian singer, songwriter and musician Jagit Singh was one of the leading artists in the ghazal style of music which combines lyrics of popular poems with music, placing emphasis on the vocals in a style to make them appeal to the masses.

Singh was born on February 8, 1941, and passed away on October 10 2012. Throughout his 50-year career he produced over 80 albums and is widely regarded as one of India's most influential artists.

In celebration of his birthday Google has produced a "Google Doodle" on Google India (http://www.google.co.in/ ) showing Singh playing a harmonium and users of Google+ are trending "#JagitForever" in his memory.

Elsewhere on Google+ users are talking about the forthcoming Chinese New Year which takes place on February 10. This year will be the Chinese year of the snake or serpent and Google+ users are sharing their plans for celebrating the big day.
